Vacaville is growing! More people means more vehicles which creates more traffic.... Driving can be a frustrating experience. With all this traffic and aggressive driving we can easily forget rules, get distracted, and inevitably be involved in more collisions. (Rates Increase!)
With the help of the DMV 2018 Handbook I have created a List of a few Safe Driving Tips, hoping to help us slow down and avoid a misfortunate event. (Visit the CA.DMV Website).
Do you know what the Most Common Causes of Collisions are?
The Solid YELLOW Light Signal! I typically speed up and drive through. But, I should be preparing to Stop as the red light will soon appear, and if I am able to I should cross the intersection cautiously.
DO NOT rely on Traffic Signal Lights.
Always check surroundings before entering an intersection!
2. Unsafe Speed
An Unsafe speed can be fast or slower than the allotted speed limit. Since we are in the middle of Winter,
Don't be a Tailgater!
Did you know the Freeway lanes are numbered? The "fast Lane", furthest to the left, is Lane #1 and If you choose to drive slower than other traffic, then Lane #4, furthest to the right, is the best lane to be in. If you block the normal and reasonable movement of traffic by driving too slowly, you may be cited.
When towing a vehicle or trailer you must drive in the right most lane
How should we drive through a "Work Zone"? The most common cause of injuries in Work Zones is rear-end collisions. For your own Safety and the Safety of your passengers remember to pass through carefully. Fines for traffic violations in a Work Zone can be $1000 or more!
Did you know that if you fail to stop when the School bus flashes their Red Lights the Fine could be up to $1000 and driving privileges could be suspended up to 1 year? It is required we Stop from either direction, once the lights flash red.
TIPS FOR THE PEDESTRIAN AND BYCYCLYST:
It is very important to remember as a Pedestrian to Yield the Right-Of-Way to vehicles when you cross a street, especially in areas with no pedestrian crosswalk or signals. Watch out for Drivers! Make yourself as visible as possible at night.
Bicycles are required to follow the same rights and responsibilities as vehicles!
- Obey ALL traffic signs and signals - Signal when changing lanes or turning - Allow faster traffic to pass - Ride as near to the right curb or edge of roadway as practical
This list provides just a few Safety reminders while on the road, you can find the full Road Safety Rules in the 2018 DMV Handbook on the CA.dmv website.
Our goal is to always make sure you are properly covered and also aware! Lets be safe out there!
Thanks for stopping by!
